Ski for Sadie – 2020 Round Up
Wow, what a first day!
An amazing first day was had by all across the 2 resorts. Good conditions, although bitterly cold!
Everyone set off super early and with a few glitches with some people’s use of the app, we have our first day’s stats online. There was a lot of miles covered out there and there will be some tired legs tonight!
We do it all again tomorrow.
3 Beauties and A Beast Triumph on Day One
Stella, Nicole and Deborah showed their competitive side to take day one’s prizes. Smashing out 25 checkpoints and a whopping 455 points they took on the Paradiski area and won. Over in the 3 Valleys, Ed covered some serious ground to amass 17 checkpoints and 370 points – which is a lot of distance.
Well done everyone and we can’t wait to see what you can do on day 2!
It was cold out there but some great results!
Once again 3 Beauties and a Beast clocked more checkpoints than any other team. Ed again was strongest over in Val Thorens. It will be interesting to see how Stella, Deborah and Nicole fare over in the 3 valleys. The big resort swap happens tomorrow night!
In other challenges, Leah and Ed won respective Checkpoint Charge’s in either ski areas – well done! And some great photos of the day – check them all out on our social channels. Amazing pose from Beth in Les Arcs (pictured!)
What will day 3 bring (aside from the resort swap at the end?)…. and more importantly, will the arrival of “Tom” (aka the Beast) slow the 3 Beauties and the Beast down at all?
Resort Swap Time!
After 3 days of amazing skiing around the 3 Valleys and Paradiski are swapping resorts. They’ve set the benchmarks for teams to beat in each resort. Ed hit 46 checkpoints in the 3 Valleys and the 3 beauties and a beast hit all 50 in Les Arcs/La Plagne – amazing stuff from all!
Over in Val Thorens…. teams assembled in The Folie Douce for some end of trip drinks… It was suggested a checkpoint next year be placed in this very establishment… we love that idea 🙂
Stewart, Stephen and Simon are excited to welcome their new guests and get them out there to compete in their new playground.
Bring it on!
Wednesday saw a frenzy of checkpoint check-ins across both ski areas. Keen to gain ground on the 3 Beauties, Ed set off with Stewart and Stephen to grab a phenomenal amount of points. But Beth and Cara outperformed them all, well done hosts!
Over in the 3 valleys, as predicted, our leaders found it tougher going in the larger ski area of the 3 valleys. Not helped by a lift pass fiasco first thing, they set off to Courcheval to knock off the furthest points. They still have plenty to do but are the only team still with a chance of hitting all 100 checkpoints and ultimately beating the Ski for Sadie Challenge!
The Final Push
We’ve had an action packed day across both ski areas today with some great scores from the teams who have perhaps not been making headlines to date. Over in Les Arcs, Team Vanessa/Pascal had a great day grabbing loads of checkpoints in what they describe as a day that “we’ve never skied so fast”!
In the 3 Valleys, with Simon to lead, young Leah bagged 24 checkpoints and thrashing the current leaders “3 Beauties and a Beast” – good going!
Tomorrow looks set to be an exciting day… only one team can still grab the ultimate prize… all 100 checkpoints. Team 3 Beauties has 12 more checkpoints to hit to make the 100. Simon will be in tow to record the memorable moment… and all being well we’ll be in the Folie Douce by 2pm to celebrate… that’s the plan anyway!
Over in Les Arcs, Stewart, Ed and Stephen are going for the impossible – 50 checkpoints in one day!
What a final day!
We could not have asked for much more on this final day of the first Ski for Sadie event.
Over in Les Arcs, Ed set off with Stewart and Stephen to try and achieve the impossible… all 50 checkpoints in one day. With Stewart leading the navigation they came very, very close… 49 points hit. Only just unable to get down to Villaroger for the final one. A phenomenal effort though!
The ultimate aim of the challenge is to hit all 100 checkpoints during the week. Only one team could still do this on the final day and sure enough, 3 Beauties and a Beast carefully plotted their way through their last 15 points. With Simon and Leah in tow to join the celebrations as they reached the 100 down in St Martin de Belleville. An astonishing feat and we are so proud of this team’s dedication to the course.
